Mime first
Call out each of the 12 actions and have students mime it. They feel the difference between Press a button and Tug a rope before they sort.
The classroom door
Open a door can go in either box. Take the class to the door and ask whether it opens with a push or a pull from each side.
Numbers only
The sheet lets students write numbers instead of words. Offer that to students who are not writing yet, so the sort stays the focus.
