We use security safeguards and support school privacy reviews and Data Processing Agreements. Students never create accounts, and there is no cross-lesson student profile. Teacher accounts are protected with encrypted authentication. Schools can request access, return, or deletion of that lesson's Live results. Our Privacy Policy explains providers, retention, and applicable school-agreement deadlines. For younger students, the school provides required notices and authorization; relying on that school authorization still leaves Chalkie with operator obligations, including under COPPA where it applies.

Students never create accounts. Live Activities have no student emails, passwords, or school logins, and no profile that follows a student from lesson to lesson. When a teacher runs a live activity, the school is the controller and Chalkie is the processor under the Data Processing Agreement at https://chalkie.ai/dpa. Chalkie stores that lesson's display names, answers, and scores on our servers so the teacher can review results. A display name starts as a generated nickname. A student can change it, including to a real name, and we then treat it as personal data. Results are not sold, not used for ads, and not used to train AI. Ending a session does not delete them, and there is no automatic deletion period. The teacher can delete that session's results in the app, and schools can ask us to return or delete them.
