Four bingo cards, A to D, each hold 16 tricky words for 1st grade, such as said, could, where and does. The teacher reads a clue and a sentence from the caller cards, for example "I only have _____ nose." for one. Students mark the word if it is on their card. The set uses 20 words in total, so every card leaves a few out. It covers Common Core RF.1.3g, the irregular words students cannot sound out, and the caller table doubles as the answer key.

Four cards suit a small group. Read the clue and the sentence, then pause so each student finds the word alone rather than copies a friend.
Watch the look-alikes
Where and were share a card, and so do could, would and should. Say those sentences twice and ask students to point before they mark.
Weekly review
Keep the caller cards and reuse them each week. Swap in your own sentences once students know these ones by heart.
