Five Senses Word Search

Kindergarten ScienceFive Senses2 pages

About this worksheet

A 9 by 9 grid hides ten five senses words on this 3-page kindergarten word search: see, hear, smell, taste, touch, eyes, ears, nose, hand and tongue. Words run across or down only, never on a diagonal or backward. Five words have picture clues under the grid on Page 1 and the other five have clues on Page 2. The answer key shows the grid with every word circled and gives the row and column of each one.

Answers

The grid with each word circled and a list of where each word starts and which way it runs.

How teachers use it

Read the clues first

Go over the ten picture clues aloud before anyone searches. Students who can say the word are much more likely to spot its letters.

Long words first

Suggest that students look for the longest word, tongue, then work down to see. A short word like see is the hardest to spot in a grid.

Partner highlighting

Give each pair a highlighter. One partner reads a word and the other finds it, then they swap. The answer key makes marking quick.
