About this worksheet
Shape Detective: Attributes and Names keeps 2nd graders counting before naming, the habit Common Core 2.G.1 is after. Four 2D shapes (a triangle, a trapezoid, a pentagon, a hexagon) each ask for sides and angles first, with the name chosen from a word bank second. A 3D spotlight then examines a cube in three steps: what shape its faces are, how many faces it has, and its name. Riddles reverse the task, describing a shape by its attributes for students to name, and the final question asks them to draw any quadrilateral with exactly 4 straight sides and 4 angles.
