About this worksheet
Three monsters help Year 1 pupils explain why a character is the way they are. A worked example shows that Barnaby is friendly because he smiles and waves. It uses four steps: Point, Evidence, Explain and Link. Pupils follow sentence starters to do the same for Grump, the angry monster. Then they write about Snooze, the tired one, without the starters. Across three pages, a tick box asks them to re-read their work, and the key gives model answers. It fits England National Curriculum composition.
