Year 1 days of the week with capital letters, over two pupil pages and an answer key. Pupils take seven jumbled lower-case days, starting with friday, tuesday and sunday, and write them from Monday to Sunday with a capital. Page 2 asks four questions, including what day comes after Tuesday and what the first day of the weekend is. A Remember box says every day starts with a capital letter. It follows England National Curriculum punctuation for Year 1.

All seven rows in Part 1 and all four answers in Part 2 need a capital, and the Remember lines state the rule.

Say the days together as you point along a class calendar, then let pupils use it to check their order in Part 1.
Question 4 as a starter
Use the today question each morning for a week. Pupils write the day, swap books and check for the capital. The answer changes every day.
Support
Pupils who find ordering hard can write only Monday to Thursday first and say the rest aloud before they finish.
