Numbers to 20 Bingo

About this worksheet

Numbers to 20 Bingo! is a printable kindergarten math game for numeral recognition from 1 to 20, built for the Common Core standards K.CC.3, K.CC.4, and K.CC.5. Two ready-made 4 by 4 cards are printed on the sheet, Card A for Player 1 and Card B for Player 2, each holding sixteen different numbers. A caller's number bank lists 1 to 20 with checkboxes, and the instructions suggest cutting the tiles out to draw from a cup. Four Mystery Caller Clues turn the calling into math: one clue asks what 10 + 3 makes, another asks what comes right before 10.

Curriculum objectives covered

K.CC.3

Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).

The Mystery Caller Clues each end with a numeral written on a line: 16, 13, 9, and 20.

K.CC.4

Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.

The clue "ten and three more" ties the numeral 13 to a quantity built from parts rather than a symbol to memorize.

K.CC.5

Count to answer "how many?" questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.

Counting forward from 15, backward from 10, and continuing 17, 18, 19 all run the count sequence that this standard's 1 to 20 range depends on.

What's inside this worksheet

How to Play

A callout explains the rules: the caller draws numbers from 1 to 20, players cover matches with a counter or an X, and four in a row across, down, or diagonally wins.

Player 1: Card A and Player 2: Card B

Two different 4 by 4 bingo grids are printed and ready to cut apart. Card A opens with the row 3, 11, 7, 19; Card B opens with 12, 4, 17, 1.

Caller's Number Bank

All twenty numbers appear with checkboxes so the caller can tick each one off, or cut the tiles apart and draw them from a cup.

Mystery Caller Clues

Four clues replace plain number calls. Students work out the number after 15, the value of 10 + 3, the number right before 10, and the next number in 17, 18, 19.

How teachers use it

Partner game

Cut the sheet so each player holds one card, and give the number bank to a third student as caller. The checkbox column keeps the caller honest about repeats.

Whole-class version

Project one card and play as a class against the teacher. Read the Mystery Caller Clues instead of plain numbers once students stop needing the count from one.

Send-home game

The rules, both cards, and the cut-apart number bank fit in a folder. Families can run the game without any instructions beyond what is printed.
