About this worksheet
Eight words hide in the 12 by 12 grid on this 2nd grade word search. Six come from two root families, care (careful, careless, caring) and help (helper, helpful, helpless), and two carry prefixes: unhappy and retell. Words run across or down only. Because the families sit together in the word list, the sheet leads into Common Core L.2.4c, using a known root to work out a new word. The answer key gives the row, column and direction for each word, such as CARING at row 4, column 1, going down.
