The Great Camping Adventure is a cloze story with ten blanks and a 12-word bank. 2nd grade students use the clues in each sentence to pick words like soaked, zooming, enormous and exhausted, and two words (tiny and spicy) stay unused. The story follows a rainy camping trip, a silent bear eating berries and hot dogs over the fire. A bonus question asks what scalding means when Dad has to add three ice cubes to his soup. It targets Common Core L.2.4a, and the answer key names the clue for the bonus.
