Pupils write the right pronoun on the line. Part 2 asks them to explain in their own words when to use I and when to use me, then to write one sentence with we and one with us. What's inside this worksheet

Choose the Correct Pronoun

Ten sentences, each with two pronoun choices in brackets, from Can you give the book to (I / me) to My sister and (I / me) tidied our bedroom.

Using Pronouns in Sentences

Question 1 asks when to use I and when to use me, with five lines. Question 2 asks for one sentence with we and one with us.

Answers

The ten answers, a short rule for I and me, and a mark scheme for the we and us sentences.

How teachers use it

Say it both ways

Have pupils read each sentence aloud with each option before they write. Dad took we to the zoo sounds wrong to most ears, which is the quickest way into the rule.

Cross out the other person

For items 4 and 10, cross out the second person and read what is left. Him went swimming sounds wrong, so He and I wins.

Exit ticket

Use part 2 at the end of the lesson. The we and us sentences show at once who has the rule.
