Money Check

Year 2 MathsMoney2 pages

About this worksheet

This Year 2 money check fits on one page, with the answer key on page 2. Pupils write the value of four coins, which the key gives as 5p, 20p, 50p and £1, then total three groups of coins labelled a, b and c. Next they draw or write two different ways to make 60p. The last question asks for the change when a 28p pencil is paid for with 50p. It follows England National Curriculum measurement.

How teachers use it

End of the money unit

Hand it out when the unit is done. Mark question 2 first, because it shows quickly who adds in pence with confidence.

Spot the method

Look at question 4 to see who counts on from 28p to 50p and who subtracts. Both are fine, but you will see who is stuck.

Short retest

Keep the sheet for later. Pupils who slipped on one question can redo just that question the next week.
