Kindergartners turn their morning trip into a six-panel storyboard called How I Get to School. Panels are labeled from Leaving Home through First Thing I Pass, Almost There, and Arriving at School, and each has a caption line an adult can help with. Two planning questions ask how students travel, by walking, bus, or car, and for two landmarks on the way, like a stop sign. The 2-page sheet has no answer key. It lines up with C3 Framework D2.Geo.1.K-2 and D2.Geo.7.K-2.

Homework with a grown-up
Send the planning questions home first. Families notice the landmarks on the next morning's trip, and students come back with real things to draw.

Tally question 1 answers on the board. A bar graph of walkers, bus riders, and car riders is a quick follow-up math link.
Bus riders
Students on a long bus route often draw the same view six times. Tell them to pick one thing that changes, like a turn or a stop, for each panel.
