A homework sheet that walks 4th graders back through all three geometry standards, 4.G.1 to 4.G.3, using picture-based questions throughout. Students identify a line, a ray and a segment from their arrowheads and endpoints, classify three line pairs as parallel, perpendicular or intersecting, type three angles drawn at about 40°, 90° and 130°, answer property questions on a right triangle and a rectangle, and count symmetry lines for an equilateral triangle, a square and a scalene triangle. Curriculum objectives covered

4.G.1

Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.

Questions 1 to 5: the line, ray and segment identifications, the three line-pair classifications and the three angle types.

4.G.2

Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.

Questions 6 and 7, classifying the right triangle and stating the rectangle's parallel pairs and right angles.

4.G.3

Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

Question 8's three symmetry counts and the letter H judgment in question 9.

What's inside this worksheet

Part 1: Lines, Rays, and Pairs

Three figure-type identifications (arrowheads on both ends, one end, neither), then pairs A to C classified as parallel, perpendicular or intersecting (neither).

Part 2: Classifying Angles and Shapes

Angles 1 to 3 sit near 40°, 90° and 130° for acute, right or obtuse calls. Question 6 asks whether the pictured triangle holds a right angle and what type that makes it; question 7 counts a rectangle's parallel pairs and right angles.

Part 3: Lines of Symmetry

Symmetry-line counts for an equilateral triangle, a square and a scalene triangle, then the letter H with a dashed vertical line and an explain-how-you-know.
