About this worksheet
Three identical exit slips run across 2 pages, each with a five-sentence passage about cheetahs: their speed, long legs, spotted fur and balancing tail. 2nd grade students decide whether the author's purpose is to answer, explain or describe, then finish the sentence "The author wrote this text to..." A row of five faces lets them rate their day. The three choices come straight from Common Core RI.2.6. There is no answer key, and describe is the closest fit for the cheetah text.
