Grammar Superstars puts three 2nd grade language skills on one sheet. Students write the irregular plurals teeth, children, mice and feet under four pictures, then change hide, tell and sit to the past tense in three sentences. The last part asks them to rewrite "i cant wait for thanksgiving." and a second sentence with the right capital letters and apostrophes. The tasks line up with Common Core L.2.1b, L.2.1d, L.2.2a and L.2.2c, and an answers page covers all three tasks.

Marvelous Plurals: teeth, children, mice and feet.

Action in the Past: hide, tell and sit become hid, told and sat.
L.2.2a
“Capitalize holidays, product names, and geographic names.”
Fix It Up asks students to capitalize Thanksgiving and Florida.
L.2.2c
“Use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives.”
Fix It Up also needs the contractions can't and didn't.
Pictures of a tooth, three kids, three mice and two feet, with a numbered word bank to copy from.
Three sentences with the verb in parentheses, such as "Yesterday, I (hide) in the garden." A word bank gives sat, hid and told.
A reminder about capitals for holidays and places, then two sentences to rewrite: the Thanksgiving one and "we didnt go to florida in july."
End of unit check
Use it as a short check after a grammar unit. Each section takes about five minutes, so the whole sheet fits a 15-minute slot.
One tooth, many teeth
Expect a few students to write tooth for the first picture, which shows a single tooth. Remind them the word bank holds plurals only.
Count the fixes
Write the Florida sentence on the board and ask how many fixes it needs. There are four, and students often miss the capital in July.
