About this worksheet

A Year 3 science labelling sheet on the human skeleton, matched to the England National Curriculum. A front-view diagram of a full skeleton has six leader lines, lettered A to F. Pupils write a bone name on each line from a word bank of six: spine, femur, skull, pelvis, humerus and rib cage. What's inside this worksheet

The Human Skeleton

A word bank of six bones and a skeleton diagram with leader lines A to F. Pupils write each bone's name on its line.

Answer key

A skull, B rib cage, C humerus, D spine, E pelvis, F femur.

How teachers use it

After a model

Put a classroom skeleton or a poster next to the board, then let pupils label their own copy.

Feel your bones

Ask pupils to find their own femur and humerus before they label the diagram. The longer words stick better.

Extension

Ask pupils to write beside each label what the bone protects or holds up, for example the skull and the brain.
