About this worksheet

Plants Around Us is a one-page knowledge organiser for Year 1 science. It opens with a short definition: plants are living things that need water, air and light, and they make their own food in their leaves. A labelled sunflower shows the flower, leaves, stem and roots, with one sentence on what each part does. Pupils then see trees, shrubs, grasses and wildflowers as four kinds of plant. The last panel gives four ways plants help us, from carrots to eat to homes for wildlife. There are no questions and no answer key. It follows the England National Curriculum plants unit.

Curriculum objectives covered

How plants help us

How teachers use it
