What's inside this worksheet

A table of eight organs with a Letter column, next to eight jobs in mixed order (A to H). Examples are makes bile that helps break down fat and absorbs water and forms waste.

Three questions answered in sentences: why we chew food, which organ absorbs most nutrients and why the large intestine is important.

Answers

The letter for each organ, written out with its job, and a model answer for each of the three questions.

How teachers use it

Mouth and salivary glands

Items 1 and 2 are the pair students most often swap. The mouth is matched with teeth breaking food, and the salivary glands with saliva that starts breaking down starch.

Juices

The stomach (A) and the pancreas (H) both involve juices. Ask students where each set of juices does its work before they commit to a letter.

Exit ticket

Use Part 2, question 1 alone at the end of the lesson. A sentence starter such as We chew food so helps students who stall.
