Factors and Multiples Venn Diagram

About this worksheet

Venn diagram sorting for 4th grade factors and multiples under Common Core 4.OA.4. The first half lists every factor of 24 and of 36, sorts all of them into left-only, overlap and right-only regions of a labeled diagram, and pulls the greatest common factor out of the overlap. The second half sorts a thirteen-number bank against multiples of 4 and multiples of 6, with an Outside Circles column for numbers like 15 and 27 that fit neither, then asks for the least common multiple in the overlap and why 24 belongs in the middle rather than either circle. Answers included.

Curriculum objectives covered

4.OA.4

Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range 1-100. Recognize that a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-100 is a multiple of a given one-digit number. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-100 is prime or composite.

Factor listing for 24 and 36 in Part 1, multiple recognition against 4 and 6 in Part 2, with the GCF and LCM emerging from the overlaps.

What's inside this worksheet

Part 1: Sorting Factors of 24 and 36

Questions 1 and 2 list the factors of 24 and 36 in full. Question 3 distributes them across a three-column Venn chart, and question 4 names the GCF sitting in the overlap.

Part 2: Sorting Multiples of 4 and 6

The bank holds 4, 6, 8, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 27, 28, 30 and 36, sorted into multiples of 4 only, both, 6 only, or outside. Question 5 asks for the LCM in the overlap and question 6 for a written defense of 24's position.

How teachers use it

Vocabulary bridge

GCF and LCM usually arrive years later as procedures. Here they are just the overlap regions; name them casually and move on.

Deliberate distractors

15 and 27 exist to be misfiled as multiples of 6. When it happens, skip-count by 6 aloud as a class past both numbers.

Extension pair

Early finishers redraw Part 2 with multiples of 3 and 5 from the same bank. The overlap shrinks to 15 and 30, which they find satisfying.
