About this worksheet

Page 1 is a planning page with four questions to answer with a family member, such as when they were born and when they first walked. Page 2 has five stacked boxes joined by arrows, each with a year line, a writing line and a drawing square. The first box says I was born and the last says This year. Page 3 shows a completed sample.

How teachers use it

Send page 1 home

Send page 1 home a few days early. Families need time to find baby books and photos, and some students will not know when they first walked.

No family at hand

Offer a school event or a favorite memory in place of a family answer for students who cannot ask someone at home. The timeline works the same way.

Gallery walk

Hang the finished timelines and let students walk the room. Ask them to find the earliest and latest event on a classmate's page.
