Civics warm-up

Put the word bank on the board and ask who has visited a library or park lately. Most students label the pictures in two minutes. The "What they do" lines show you who can tell the mayor from the council.

Writing prompt

Before students write their mayor rule, share a weak example such as "no homework ever" and talk about what makes a rule help a whole town. The replies get more civic and less personal.

Class vote
