Skip Counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s

About this worksheet

Three characters carry this 2nd grade skip-counting worksheet: a frog hops by 5s, a race car zooms by 10s, and giant leaps travel by 100s up to 1,000. The eleven sequences hide their blanks mid-run rather than at the end, and several start away from friendly numbers, such as counting by 5s from 310 and by 10s from 780. A final section flips the task: students see 210, 220, 230, 240 and must both fill the blank and tick whether the pattern counts by 5s, 10s or 100s. It is straight practice for Common Core 2.NBT.2, counting within 1,000.

2.NBT.2

Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.

All 14 questions count within 1,000 by 5s, 10s or 100s, and Part 4 adds naming the count.

What's inside this worksheet

Part 1: Hop by 5s

Four frog sequences from 35 up to 335, with blanks scattered inside the runs, including 310, ___, 320, 325.

Part 2: Zoom by 10s

Four sequences from 120 up to 960, two of which cross into a new hundred: 460 to 500 and 780 to 830.

Part 3: Giant Leaps by 100s

Three trails by hundreds, the last climbing 500 to 1,000.

Part 4: Find the Pattern

Three sequences to diagnose. Students fill the next number, then check a box for 5s, 10s or 100s.

Answer key

Every missing number listed by question, plus the pattern label for each Part 4 item.

How teachers use it

Choral count first

Skip-count each part aloud as a class before pencils move. The frog and race car headings give each round its own voice.

Boundary spotting

Questions 6 and 7 cross into a new hundred (490 to 500, 790 to 800). Pull them out for students who stall at ninety.

Part 4 as exit ticket

Give the three diagnose-the-pattern items alone in the last three minutes. Naming the count shows more than continuing it.
