The Digestive System Labelling

Year 4 ScienceAnimals Including Humans3 pages

About this worksheet

Six organs of the human digestive system to label, for Year 4 science. Page 1 gives the instructions and a six-word word bank: mouth, oesophagus, liver, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. Page 2 has the diagram, a boy with the organs drawn on his body and six lines marked A to F. The answer key on page 3 gives the label for each letter. Pupils name the parts but do not write what each one does, so the functions need a follow-up task. It links to the England National Curriculum digestive system objective.

What's inside this worksheet

The Human Digestive System

The instructions and a word bank of six organs, on page 1.

Digestive system diagram

A boy with the digestive organs drawn on his body, and six label lines from A at the mouth to F at the small intestine.

Answer key

The six labels in order from A to F.

How teachers use it

Add the jobs

Once pupils have labelled the diagram, ask them to write one job next to each label, such as the stomach churning food.

Food journey

The letters do not follow the path of food, because E is the large intestine and F the small intestine. Ask pupils to number the parts in the right order.

Print layout

The word bank and the diagram are on separate pages, so print them double-sided or hand out both pages together.
