About this worksheet
A Year 3 spelling sheet on the long a sound spelt ei, eigh and ey. Pupils sort 15 words, including vein, sleigh, obey and beige, into four columns. The fourth column is for words with the same letters but a different sound, such as height, ceiling and key. Next they say which word was hardest to place, add one word of their own to each pattern and fill eight gaps from the bank. The answers page gives the full sort and all eight gap answers. It covers a Years 3 and 4 spelling pattern from English Appendix 1.
