Conjunctions come first on this three-page Year 3 grammar sheet, then pronouns and time words. Pupils join sentence halves with the conjunctions although, when, because and if. They rewrite two sentences, such as "The dog was barking because the dog was hungry", with a pronoun in place of the repeated noun. The last part has them fill gaps with before, after and during. Answers are printed under the tasks. It links to five England National Curriculum grammar objectives.

Each section names its term (conjunction, pronoun or preposition) and explains it before the task.
Pupils draw lines to match four sentence starts, like "We went inside", to endings such as "because it started to snow".
