Next they match four sentence starts to endings: I had a bath goes with and I went to bed. Finally they join The frog can jump and The fish can swim into one sentence. The sheet moves from and between two words, to and between two clauses, to joining two full sentences.
Pupils join bat and ball, socks and shoes, fish and chips and bucket and spade to their pictures.
Four sentence starts, such as It is raining, to match with endings that begin with and. The first is done.

Say the four sentence starts aloud and let pupils give their own and endings before they do the matching.
