About this worksheet
A hierarchy sort for 5th grade math on classifying two-dimensional figures (Common Core 5.G.3 and 5.G.4). A shape bank presents figures as marked diagrams with captions, such as 4 equal sides, 4 right angles for the square. Students then check every category that applies to each figure across a table running Polygon, Quadrilateral, Parallelogram, Rectangle, Rhombus, Square, which makes attribute inheritance visible as rows fill left to right. Three always-sometimes-never statements and a final written question about why a square is both a rectangle and a rhombus complete the sheet.
