About this worksheet
The focus statement is printed for students: the deep ocean is a dark, freezing, extreme place that is home to some of the most unusual creatures on Earth. From there, 5th graders fill four planning branches, one for each body paragraph. They cover the environment, deep-sea wildlife, survival tricks, and how people study the ocean. A fifth branch is for a topic of their own. The 2-page planner fits W.5.2.a and W.5.5, and there is no answer key, because students fill it from their own research.
