About this worksheet

This quick check for 3rd grade science has three parts and an answer key on page 3. Part 1 gives six steps to number from 1 to 6. Part 2 describes Leo rolling a toy car down a ramp onto carpet, wood and tile, with the same car and the same ramp each time. Students name what changed, what was measured and one thing kept the same. Part 3 is a multiple choice question: which of three sentences is the best hypothesis?

How teachers use it

Exit ticket

Use it at the end of the unit. Part 2 shows quickly who can name the one thing that was changed.

Test each option

Read the three hypotheses aloud and ask what you could measure with a ruler for each. Only one of them can be tested that way.

Sort by Part 1

Mark Part 1 first. Students who mix up the hypothesis and the experiment need the steps again before anything else.
