About this worksheet
An engineering-style 1st grade science worksheet about sending messages with light and sound. Students match five problems, such as keeping ships away from rocks, to pictures of a lighthouse, handbell, flashlight, fire engine siren, and drum. They then mark whether each device uses light, sound, or both. The last page asks them to draw a device that could signal a friend across the playground. The answer key gives every match and lists sample designs, including a paper cup and string telephone.
